Asset | Marketing is a study association at Tilburg University that focuses on students and alumni whom are interested in marketing, and marketing analytics. Asset | Marketing has become one of the biggest study associations in Tilburg, with over 400 alumni, and over 1300 aligned students.
History of Asset | Marketing
Asset | Marketing was founded in 1987. The association was given the name ‘Marketing Associatie Katholieke Universiteit Brabant’ (MAKUB). Due to the fact that the university changed its name to Universiteit van Tilburg in 2002, MAKUB decided to change her name as well. From 2002 on, MAKUB was renamed Marketing Associatie Tilburg (MA-Tilburg).
In 2004, the first steps were taken to join forces and form a faculty association. In July 2008 the faculty association Asset was born. Because of joining this association MA-Tilburg changed its name again. From that moment on, the official name of the association became Asset | Marketing.
Profile Asset | Marketing
Asset | Marketing is an association for all students of the studies Business Economics (BE), Marketing Management and Marketing Analytics at Tilburg University and other students interested in the field of marketing.
Asset | Marketing provides its members with educational support, career guidance and informal activities. Study support is offered in the form of summaries, assessment trainings and several marketing related workshops. Second, career guidance is provided in various forms, including: In-house days, business dinners, case-days and company presentations. Students get the chance to bring their theoretical knowledge into practice and get in touch with the corporate life. Furthermore, Asset | Marketing organizes an array of informal events for students such as drinks and dinners. These activities create a strong bond between the members, which contributes to a high attendance of members, also at formal activities. With the help of these events, Asset | Marketing plays an intermediary role between orientating and self-developing students and companies who want to profile themselves.
At this moment, approximately 100 students are participating in one of the fifteen committees Asset | Marketing has to offer. Besides that, thanks to our large network of alumni and our good relationship with the Department of Marketing at Tilburg University, a lot of diverse, high quality activities can be offered to our members every year.
Asset is the association for all students studying at Tilburg School of Economics and Management. Asset | Marketing is one of the seven departments which represent seven different study directions. The other departments are: Asset | Accounting & Finance, Asset | Econometrics, Asset | Economics, Asset | International Business & Management, Asset | SBIT and Asset | Strategy & Logistics. With around 6000 members, Asset is one of the largest business and economics oriented Faculty Associations in Europe.
Asset’s goal is to provide services and activities to all its members and to enhance their life during their studies at Tilburg University. Faculty Association Asset is managed by students and serves students by offering study exceeding activities on the one hand, and study specific activities on the other hand. Asset offers students the possibility to get in contact with potential future employers by means of the Economic Business weeks Tilburg, the Asset Inhouse days, the Consultancy Experience and several specific recruitment activities.
To get a grasp on how theory works out in ‘the real world’, Asset organizes activities that translate abstract books into sparkling events. Examples of such activities are the Business Night and the monthly Food for Thought interviews with prominent persons from different areas of expertise such as science, business or politics. Besides the formal activities that Asset organizes, there are also several informal, social activities. The Asset kick-off party, the Asset Gala, the COdE Beer cantus and the Pre-carnaval party are just a few examples..
Marketing Associatie Nederland (Marketing Association of the Netherlands, MAN) was founded in 1992. The MAN is a collaboration of the Marketing associations of Amsterdam, Groningen, Maastricht, Rotterdam and Tilburg and wants to show its members that marketing reaches further than the lecture halls. The main goal is to link marketing theories to practice. This is accomplished by initiatives as the Nationale Marketing Strijd (National Marketing Competition) and the Dutch Marketing Thesis Award. Furthermore the MAN is a great source for sharing information between the local associations.
